Last week we covered summer safety tips<\/a>.\u00a0 Let’s talk about some other safety tips you can use to keep cool this summer. Of course this is not medical advice, and I am not a doctor. However, like I said last time, please ask your pharmacist about how the heat will affect any medications that you take.<\/p>\n

Ice<\/h4>\n

There are lots of fun recipes online for fun ice or home made ice popsicles and desserts. I like to add fruit to my ice personally. You can also find popsicle molds for an affordable price, they are not usually very expensive. I’ve talked about adding fruit to your water before, but I also like this as an option to cool down. This can be a relatively affordable tip, so adjust it to your budget of course. If you have a blender,<\/p>\n

Choose Your Fabric<\/h4>\n

Choose your fabrics wisely! Good ways to keep cool include light colors, loose fabrics and stretchy items. These items are often ones that overlap with the best things to look for in items that older adults can dress themselves in. Even if someone wants to wear long pants or long sleeved shirts, they can be great sun protection. They can also still be cooling if they are light and fit loosely.<\/p>\n

I had a few extra points that did not quite fit into the last post, so here they are now. Stay safe out there!<\/p>\n
