Since Influenza Vaccination Week was earlier this month, it\u2019s a good time to remind anyone who is interested to consider getting a flu vaccination. While CareBuilders at Home does not provide medical advice, we do encourage individuals\u2014especially older adults and family caregivers\u2014to speak with their physician or pharmacist about whether a flu vaccine is appropriate for them.<\/p>\n

Influenza can be especially serious for older adults. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention<\/a>, adults age 65 and older are at a higher risk for complications, hospitalization, and severe outcomes related to the flu. That\u2019s why having a conversation with a healthcare provider about vaccination can be an important part of seasonal health planning.<\/p>\n

Family caregivers may also want to ask about flu vaccination as an added layer of protection for loved ones they support. As always, any questions related to allergies, medications, or existing health conditions should be discussed directly with a medical professional.<\/p>\n
