<\/p>\nWhat happens when the weather gets cold? In Kentucky, it hasn’t really gotten that cold yet, but it will soon and there are a ton of outdoor activities that we still want to enjoy, especially at night. Let’s talk about ways that we can prepare for the cold while we’re going out and about.<\/p>\n

The best way to prepare for possible cold weather is to wear layers. For older adults, I would also recommend light layers that they can independently remove and pull back on if neccessary. A lot of people don’t want other people messing with their clothes. It’s me, I’m people. But jokes aside, it’s just practical to be able to regulate your own body temperature.<\/p>\n
Carry some hats and gloves in the trunk of your car, and, if you have people in your entourage who use strollers or wheelchairs, extra blankets. This can be a super easy way to keep your extremities warm. I love carrying hand warmers as well.<\/p>\n
As it gets cold, the dry air can wipe the moisture out of your skin. As we age, our skin can get thinner and have a hard time staying moisturized. If you carry moisturizer, lotion, or hand cream, that can help keep your skin from drying out.<\/p>\n
