Many of our nutrition needs may change as we age or develop certain conditions. Our doctors may tell us to cut down on sodium, or increase protein. You may just be on a journey to eat better. Here are some easy ways that older adults can make positive changes to their nutrition.

Meal Preparation

If you can, batch cooking and weekly meal preparation can save you a lot of daily time. Some people may not have the stamina to do this, however there are a lot of recipes that use slow cookers or allow you to sit. And once you have your meals for the week, you can simply heat them up.

Meal Kits and Grocery Kits

One of the benefits of grocery kits or meal kits are that you can often sort through options by your preferences. It also makes meal planning pretty easy and fuss-free. It also can make it easier to track your macronutrients. This is not in everyone’s budget, so your mileage may vary. But if it is in your budget, this may be a great option for people who aren’t able to go out and buy groceries and carry them to their car and into their homes.

Frozen Vegetables

Frozen vegetables can be a great way for older people to get their vegetables in while not having to worry about them spoiling. Unlike canned vegetables, often frozen vegetables don’t have as much sodium added, so they can be great for people trying to keep their sodium intake down.
