For this month, we are talking all about cleaning, with a focus on older adults. Last time we talked about acessibility in cleaning. Today, we are going to discuss ways to clean up after your pets, especially if you have limited mobility or dexterity.

Self-Cleaning Litterboxes

Self-cleaning litterboxes can be a great option for cat lovers who cannot get down to scoop litter. They also do not usually smell  as strongly as traditional litterboxes do.

Dog and Cat Wipes

Wipes are a great alternative to washing, although they are not a replacement for baths. It may be a great deal easier for older adults to do themselves than bathing their dogs, and then for the real bathing they can rely on groomers or friends.

Waste Scoops

For those with dogs, waste scoops can be a great thing because they do not have to bend all the way down to the ground and stand back up. They may require dexterity in one’s hands, so your mileage may vary.

Tomorrow we’re going to talk some more about cleaning up after pets, so please stay tuned!
