A lot of older adults have cared for pets their whole adult lives, and may want to care for them as they get older. Now, I know that some older adults may have difficult caring for an animal on their own. I am not talking about solitary adults who cannot care for a pet, but rather older adults who can care for a living being on their own or with the help of their family members who live with them.
Self-Cleaning Litterboxes
These are quite expensive, and I don’t normally recommend items that are this expensive. However, they are so good for people who can’t reach down and clean their own litterboxes anymore. If you can afford it, they can be so easy and enable people to care for their cats.
Automatic Feeders
Automatic feeders are very easy to program and they keep your pets on a schedule. Unfortunately, the one downside is that they can attract bugs. You also don’t have to bend down as frequently, just to fill it up every week or so, not twice a day.
Pet Water Fountains
Especially for cats, water fountains are great, and they’re pretty easy to maintain. You just have to switch out the filters every once in a while.
