A few weeks ago, I posted about ways that older adults can volunteer in their communities. I thought that I’d write this follow-up to expand on some ways that older adults can volunteer in financially and physically accessible ways. Of course every suggestion will not be perfect for everyone, so your mileage may vary.

Educational Volunteers
There are plenty of ways for seniors to volunteer in the education real. There are openings in museums of all kinds, as well as volunteer opportunities in schools and libraries. The reason why this could be a good option for older adults is that they are usually indoors, and if the location is a public building, it has to be ADA accessible.
Animal Shelters and Rescues
Now for the more active older adults, volunteering with your local animal shelters may be a great option. You can do things like walk the dogs, socialize the cats, help with laundry, and other tasks that the staff may not have time for during the day. You can also volunteer to help with the photo shoots that they do with the animals for the website and social profiles.
Where are you going to volunteering this year?
