Welcome to the first day of Care-o-Ween! Halloween is right around the corner, and it’s one of my favorite holidays. Costumes aren’t just for kids—you can dress up at any age, even if you’re handing out candy. If you’re still looking for a costume, here are a few affordable, last-minute ideas that are easy to put together.
Any Animal
An animal costume can be simple and flexible. Whether it’s a cat, dog, lion, or owl, all you need is clothing in the right color and a few accessories—like ears, a tail, or even sunglasses for fun “bug eyes.” This is an easy option that works well for all ages and comfort levels.
A Cowboy or Scarecrow
These classic costumes often use items you already have. Jeans, a flannel shirt, boots, and a hat can pull together either look. A little face paint or a bandana can help complete the costume without much extra effort or cost.
Mobility Device Covers
Mobility device covers allow walkers or wheelchairs to become part of the costume. Popular designs include pirate ships, race cars, or spaceships. They can add a fun element while keeping mobility aids functional and accessible. If you plan to be out for a while, be sure decorations don’t interfere with movement or visibility—something the CDC also emphasizes in their Halloween safety guidance.
