Last time, we talked about the dangers of extreme heat to older adults. However, it’s summer vacation and you may want to have fun with your grandkids in a way that won’t hurt you or them. Today, let’s go over some ways you and your family members can beat the heat and enjoy the summer!

Inside Activities:

  • Your local Louisville Public Library– The library has lots of fun activities for the kids and the young at heart alike! They are also offering summer reading programs, so you can help foster their love of reading all year long and help prepare them to do well in the coming school year!
  • Your local movie theater- summer is the season for blockbusters, and there are some great ones both in theaters and coming to theaters soon. Check your local listing!
  • The Purrfect Day Cafe– This cat café has lots to do! Not only is it a functioning cat café, but you can also get tickets to visit their cat room and play with kitties for 50 minutes. They have special events with the cats, too! Check out their website to see their upcoming events.
  • The Paint Spot– This local pottery studio lets you paint and keep your own creations! You can reserve a spot online or walk-in.

How We Can Help:

Our caregivers can assist you by providing transportation to and from your activities, and by providing either hands-on or stand-by assistance during your activities. All you have to do is let us know what your plans are, and we will notify your caregiver!
