A while ago, I wrote about ways to declutter your items in your home. This can be especially important for older adults who’ve lived in the same house for decades. I have been selling things on Facebook Marketplace, and I’ve done quite a few yard sales, so this is what I recommend to you.

In-Person Sales are a LOT of Work

Estate and garage sales are hard work. You have to clean and get everything ready, and then you have to sit there all weekend. Talking to people, working out prices, etc is surprisingly exhausting. This can be worth it if you have a lot of stuff to sell, and if you have a large support system to help you pull it off. There are also estate sale companies that can help you out for a portion of the proceeds of your sale.

It May Take Too Long to Sell Online if You Have a Lot of Stuff

I like selling a few things online at a time. However, if you have a lot you’re trying to get rid of, it may be worth it to have a big sale or donate it. One thing to consider is if you’re offering your items to be shipped or not. If you’re shipping them, do you want to ship the amount of stuff you’re selling? Only you can answer that question.

Regardless of which one you choose, have a plan if you don’t sell everything. That way it’s out of your house even if you don’t sell it. I hope that this post, while kind of strange, gives you some insight on something I suggested.
